Tohono O'odham Connections:
Basket Weaving Workshop with Nacho Flores
Saturday, April 19th, from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Made possible by the Arizona Commission on the Arts Lifelong Arts Engagement Award

We will respectfully gather native grasses from the Land and learn beginner basket weaving skills. As we experience being in the high desert grassland, we recognize it as a place that continues to teach us about plants that are woven into stories. Our teacher, Nacho Flores, brings this art form to us through traditions passed to them from their relatives. We will discuss Tohono O’odham history, culture, and current issues. We look forward to seeing you at the land! Kate will provide additional refreshments of Prickly Pear juice and Mesquite chocolate chip cookies.
Transportation: We will meet at Kestrel Kafe and caravan out to the Land from there. Roads can be rough, high-clearance vehicles are preferable, carpooling is encouraged

What to bring: a bag lunch and payment
$60 per person: includes all materials and tools, which will be yours to keep!
to be paid on site with cash or check
(please make checks payable to Land With No Name Sanctuary)
